SA Permits can be renewed by Zimbabweans

PretoriaZimbabweans working in South Africa can start next week, reviving their special work permits, Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba said on Thursday.

In August, I announced the establishment of the Zimbabwean Special Permit (ZSP) of 2014, enabling Zimbabwean holders of the particular permit to work, run company or study in South Africa for three years, until the ending of December 2017,he said in Pretoria.

Just the roughly 245 000 holders of the Dispensation for Zimbabweans Project (DZP) are qualified to apply for the ZSP.

Applications for the ZSP may be lodged from October 1 on the web site vfsglobal.

In June, Gigaba declared that VFS Global, a worldwide outsourcing and technology service specialist for authorities and diplomatic missions, had been named to control visa and permit applications in South Africa.

On Thursday, he said the business was prepared to process the Zimbabwean immigrants.

All the 10 ZSP application centers are procured by VFS. These contain entirely new centers in Cape Town, Western Cape Midrand, Gauteng; Polokwane, Limpopo; and Durban, KwaZulu Natal. The rests of the six centers are in George, Port Elizabeth, Kimberley, Bloemfontein, Nelspruit, and Rustenburg,he said.

ZSP adjudications would be processed by a total of 120 staffs.

In 2010, Zimbabweans were issued four-year work permits below the DZP around 250 000.

Gigaba said South Africa was under stress from economic migrants from the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

SADC was trying to regularize the entrance and departure of these nationals into our state. Instead of crossing the fences and entering through unusual means they are able to enter through a recognized port of entry,he said.

Visitors from the SADC area had a 90-day visa exemption per annum.

If you stay more than 90 days in a calendar year you may be considered to possess overstayed, and you’ll currently be responsible for penalties as using on the 1/8 new 3/8 immigration regulation,he said.

We’ve been insisting that fellow African states must collaborate with us by identifying their nationals, supply them with passports and we both manage the movement.

Gigaba said immigration regulations within the area needed to be harmonized so no state carried a disproportionate weight of financial migrants.

Gigaba said the forthcoming documentation of Zimbabweans wouldn’t be characterized by madness, as occurred in 2010. This is 2014, and we’re prepared for it.

Folks will be invited for interviews. Nobody will jump the queue or bribe their way,he said.

The programs would cost R870.

People consider this fee is fair in comparison with visas and Permit of similar length.

Zimbabwe experienced a mass exodus of citizens following the contested 2008 elections in which President Robert Mugabe kept the office as well as property seizures. The market was plunged into the downturn characterized by hyperinflation.
