“All the 10 ZSP application centers are procured by VFS. These contain entirely new centers in Cape Town, Western Cape Midrand, Gauteng; Polokwane, Limpopo; and Durban, KwaZulu Natal. The rests of the six centers are in George, Port Elizabeth, Kimberley, Bloemfontein, Nelspruit, and Rustenburg,” he said.
ZSP adjudications would be processed by a total of 120 staffs.
In 2010, Zimbabweans were issued four-year work permits below the DZP around 250 000.
Gigaba said South Africa was under stress from economic migrants from the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
“SADC was trying to regularize the entrance and departure of these nationals into our state. Instead of crossing the fences and entering through unusual means they are able to enter through a recognized port of entry,” he said.
Visitors from the SADC area had a 90-day visa exemption per annum.
“If you stay more than 90 days in a calendar year you may be considered to possess overstayed, and you’ll currently be responsible for penalties as using on the 1/8 new 3/8 immigration regulation,” he said.
