Visa and Permit applications will be taken at 11 centers in South Africa. These applications will soon be evaluated by Department of Home Affairs in Pretoria. Non-South Africans using a legal residency permit in South Africa can try to qualify for a visa or permit at these centers.
Department of Home Affairs directly handles Zimbabwe nationals on Special Dispensation for Zimbabweans Asylum Project and Refugee cases.
Foreigners in South Africa, who, for instance, need to expand their temporary residence visas for study or work, will have the ability to apply online and also set up an appointment before visiting the closest facilitation center to submit their private biometrics (fingerprints and photos). Visa and management fees will be paid electronically.
The determination to approve or reject applications still lies with the Department of Home Affairs, although VFS Global will charge processing visa applications.
Home Minister is happy with the new system, He was talking to journalists:
“We will have the capacity to exercise complete control over the decision making procedures to make sure that our national interests and security imperatives are served at all times,” Gigaba said.
The determination to set up the brand-new facilitation centers and contract their running outside to a private company had been told, “by none apart from our obligation to enhance efficiencies and turnaround times,” he added.
Such centers have been already introduced by the section in several its own high-quantity missions abroad – including its assignments in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and China – where it had formerly fought to reduce expanded queues and lengthy turn-around times, Gigaba said.
“We’ve visa facilitation centers at quite a number of our high-quantity assignments abroad, and they’ve been working pretty successfully … bringing, I might add, to the success of our tourism stats during the previous couple of years. It’s this great practice that we expect to roll out in South Africa.”
In line with the Department of Home Affairs, the 11 visa facilitation centers will all be fully operational and open by the end of coming June. They will have two centers in Gauteng province as well as the Western Cape, and one in every one of the other seven states.
A service fee of R 1350 enclosed VAT has to be paid per application.
SIGNIFICANT: VFS runs a call centre to answer your questions about the application procedure but CANNOT provide immigration advice.
