Home Affairs Minister is happy

Home Affairs Minister was talking about authority of Home Affairs for accepting and rejecting any visa or permit applications, When asked that who will decide upon visa and permit applications, In reply of question Home Affairs Minister South Africa said:

Although VFS Global will be responsible for processing visa applications, the decision to approve or reject applications still lies with the Department of Home Affairs. “We will be able to exercise full control over the decision-making processes to ensure that our national interests and security imperatives are served at all times,” Gigaba said.

The decision to set up the new facilitation centers and contract their running out to a private company had been informed “by none other than our commitment to improve efficiencies and turnaround times,” he added.

The Department of Home Affairs  has already introduced such centers in a number of its high-volume missions abroad – including its missions in China, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria – where it had previously struggled to cut down on lengthy queues and prolonged turn-around times, Gigaba said.

Gigaba said:”We have visa facilitation centers at quite a few of our high-volume missions abroad, and they have been working fairly successfully … contributing, I might add, to the success of our tourism stats over the last few years. It is this good practice that we hope to roll out in South Africa.”

New Zimbabwean permits announced by South Africa and New Zimbabwean permit applications will also be dealt in Vfs global offices.

Johannesburg – Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba has introduced the details of the new Zimbabwean Special Dispensation Permit (ZSP).

Describing the points of the ZSP in a press briefing in Pretoria, the Minister said this marked the start of a fresh section, whilst the Dispensation for Zimbabwe Project (DZP) can legally be closed on 31 December 2014.

Under the DZP, Zimbabwean people, have been within the country illegally, were awarded an opportunity to legalize their stay.

The special dispensation was presented last year to regulate the stay of Zimbabweans working illegally in South Africa as a result of the political and socioeconomic situation in their country.

The Minister said certain circumstances, however, should be satisfied.

“These conditions include, but aren’t restricted to: a valid Zimbabwean passport; proof of work, company or approved study as well as a clear criminal record,” said Minister Gigaba.

The ZSP will allow permit-holders to reside, function, conduct business and review in South Africa for the length of the permit, which will be valid until 31 December 2017.

Programs for ZSP permits, will open on 1 October 2014, and close on 31 December 2014.
